"For people who are disabled and don't understand why you do this, it's because darkness is actually tinted blue, If you look in to space it's actually a really dark blue-ish with a tint of purple, meaning theoretically shade is changing in colour also to those.
It also brings out more contrast in colours making it more appealing."

much thanks to :iconx-tremes: for the Explanation :)

"it's because darkness is actually tinted blue, If you look in to space it's actually a really dark blue-ish with a tint of purple, meaning theoretically shade is changing in colour also to those."

this doesn't mean it affects colours of any shade, shade colour depends on the colours of the object that is creating the shade, and what colour the nearest light source is and how vibrant or dull the light is. In fact there's a lot more factors to consider when choosing the right tone and shade of a colour to use, for example how thin or thick the object is, what material is it, is the surface rough or smooth, where is the light source coming from, how strong is the light projecting, how many other light sources are around, how close or far away is it from the light, etc.

colours and shades are complex not because they're related to the fact that space has a dark blue-ish, purple tint. adding more saturation of colour to a shade looks more appealing because you can create interesting moods of atmosphere thus giving your picture more life, the picture can portray a better, more 'believable' setting instead of just guessing what shades and colours are.

also, it doesn't necessarily bring out more contrast in a picture since contrast is a colour in juxtaposition which isn't a main reason why merging colours with shades can be so significant.
